Jennifer HoulihanTeacher: Jennifer Houlihan
Albany High School

Jennifer received her Bachelor's degree in Literature & Rhetoric and Political Science in May 1998. She earned her Master's degree in Teaching English in 2001 from Rhode Island College, and is in the process of pursuing her Ph.D in Educational Theory and Practice at the State University of New York at Albany. She has been a teacher in the City School District of Albany for the past ten years, first as an English teacher at Harriet Gibbons High School, the district's alternative program, and now as the Building Team Leader for English at Albany High.

She is authorized by the College Board to teach AP Literature and Composition, and has recently completed their Springboard training for Pre-AP in English. Her newest professional endeavor is as Coordinator for the newly established Saturday Academy at Albany High School, which serves 9th and 12th graders in need of additional instructional support.

When she's not in the classroom, Jennifer loves spending time with her husband, and two sons - Matthew, 4, and Jack, 8 months. She also coaches synchronized swimming; she counts her team's amazing 2nd place finish at the 2010 U.S. National Age Group competition as one of her greatest accomplishments.

For hobbies, Colleen likes reading, writing, and running. She has completed three half marathons and twice captained a twelve-man 200 mile relay team racing across New Hampshire.
