  • A “CRITICAL LENS” is a statement that says something specific about literature or about life. You use two literary works to interpret this statement.

Document based essay tips
  • Brainstorm using word association.
  • It is VERY IMPORTANT to include information relating to the topic beyond the information found in the documents.
  • Think: Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?
  • Make a chart or graphic organizer using the information provided Make sure that you use and cite the required number of documents.
  • Keep in mind documents are meant to support your position.
  • Be sure you have included outside information


English Exam

Listening Tips

  • Catch IMPORTANT ideas & details.
  • Use abbreviations for speed.
  • Use list format.
  • Show quotes.
  • Draw conclusion

SPEAKING TIPS:
Use “però” “ma” or “perchè” to expand your statement. Try to add a question to your response.

READING TIPS:

  • Eliminate unnecessary information.
  • Underline words you feel indicate the answer.
  • Look for cognates and words you know.
  • Eliminate answers you feel are wrong.
